Public SchoolsPublic schools in Calgary are represented by the Calgary Board of Education (CBE), More than 200 schools are overseen by the CBE. Finding the correct information for its schools can be difficult at times - so they've created a "Link" to make it easier. Even still, searching through all the information that the CBE offers is daunting. Here, we've gone ahead and searched through their website and found links to some of the most pertinent information. The schools in the CBE system are organized into five areas - each with a website - which correspond to specific neighbourhoods and communities in Calgary. These units work together to articulate the CBE's goals for public education: planning, partnerships and resource allocation. The CBE offers an interactive map that shows which communities correspond to which schools. Area 1 - Parkdale CentreParkdale Centre region serves 28 communities and is the quickest-growing region in Calgary, and is made up of the southwest and northwest regions of the city. The enrollment is over 15,000 students. Area 2 - Mount View CentreMount View Centre region serves 37 communities in the northwest and northeast of Calgary. It has an enrollment of 21,000 students. Area 3 - Willowglen Business ParkWillowglen region serves 23 communities in northeast and southeast Calgary. It is also the most culturally diverse. It offers a strong English as a Second Language (ESL) program as well as many cross-cultural programs. Area 4 - Ernest Manning High SchoolErnest Manning High School region has 20 per cent of the city's population. It serves the southwest and southeast regions of the city and has the highest number of single people in Calgary. Area 5 - Haysboro CentreHaysboro Centre region serves southwest and southeast Calgary. The highest enrollment of students in the city: 24,061 are found here. Catholic SchoolsThe Calgary Catholic School District (CCSD) offers students a faith-based education. The district recognizes that parents play a large role in both the educational and spiritual lives of students. In fact, CCSD sees parents as the primary educators of their children and the programs the district offers reflect this. The CCSD offers core programs of language arts, mathematics, religious education, science and social studies. In addition the program offers courses in career and technology, physical education, aboriginal education, AP, ESL, fine arts and language studies.
